Meet Dr Navin Nair

Dr Navin Nair is a man of incredible determination and resilience. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, it is a daily challenge for him to navigate around the public transport system. Dr Navin Nair’s weekly journey to physiotherapy involves taking various modes of public transport, from buses to MRT trains.

However, he saw the opportunity to make a difference and be the voice of persons with disabilities. In his teenage years, Navin continued the pioneering efforts of social service agencies such as SPD and HWA by participating in engagements and dialogues with transport agencies to advocate for wheelchair accessible public transport. Together with the agencies, Navin helped in the advent of wheelchair accessible public transport which facilitates daily travelling for himself and other persons with disabilities today.

As a Goh Chok Tong Enable Award 2022 Promise Awardee, Navin continues to inspire others and make a positive impact in the community.

Fengze requires his parents’ supervision to manage his daily routine, including brushing his teeth and getting dressed. As Fengze is unable to communicate verbally, caring for him can be challenging for his parents, especially when he falls sick. While he manages some of his daily activities like eating independently, Fengze requires constant care to ensure his safety. Hence, his concerned parents are looking into care plans for his future.

Through the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund, Fengze’s parents were able to set up trust accounts with the Special Needs Trust Company and purchase a term plan which ensures the cost of Fengze’s future care will be covered.
